I have been using the Ryobi Hammer Drill for about two years now. I use mine quite a bit, not quite everyday but its close. I have used every feature on the drill and I will give my honest opinion about the Quality, Value and Durability of the Ryobi Hammer Drill.
The Ryobi Hammer Drill has been built tough. Its exterior has held up to all the bumps, scratches and even a few drops that I have put it through in the last two years. The motor was built strong and has not slowed down and the clutch for the hammering action was built tough, it has not lost any of it’s hammering action. This is a good quality drill.
I would say that if you are doing a huge job the requires 50+ holes drilled into concrete this may not be the best option for a hammer drill. The Ryobi will do the job, but it will take a little longer then you may like. In this situation I would recommend the Bosch Bulldog Rotary Hammer Drill.
At $99.00 you get your moneys worth. In the combo pack you get the Ryobi Hammer Drill, (2) Batteries, Charger and Carrying Bag. You can upgrade to the 4.0 AHA Battery Combo Pack for and extra $50. This might be worth it.
When I bought mine, I did not upgrade, and I wish I would have. There is nothing wrong with the smaller batteries except they run out of power faster. The 30 minutes fast charger help with this problem. I have never run out of power before the other battery was fully charged.
The Ryobi Hammer Drill compared to other brands is a better value for what you get.
My Ryobi Hammer Drill has held up great. The batteries still have power, the hammer action still works great and the drill shows very little sign of wear and tear.
After two years I am still able to drill through concrete and drive in screws and lag bolts. The exterior of the drill has not cracked, broke or shown much scratching.
The motor stays cool, the only time the drill warms up is when you are drilling multiple holes in concrete one right after the other.
You can save money by going with a cheaper drill, but you will end up paying more down the road because in my experience cheaper drills don’t last.
You could also get a more expensive drill like the DEWALT brand, but you will pay twice as much for the same thing. The Ryobi Hammer Drill is well worth the money.
You can buy the Ryobi Hammer Drill at your local Home Depot, you can also order online (by clicking one of the links here) and pick up in store. They will get it ready for you, when you show up you will go to the pick-up desk and it will be waiting for you. You don’t have to waste any time looking through the store.
I hope you have found this information helpful. Leave me a comment and let me know what kind of drill you have and what you think of it.
