Today I want to do a product review of the LifeProof brand Vinyl Flooring. I will discuss the Quality, Value and Installation of LifeProof Vinyl Flooring.
I have installed this brand of flooring in about eight or ten rooms including bathrooms. I have also installed other brands of vinyl flooring and I plan to give the facts of LifeProof and compare the LifeProof to the other brands that I have installed.
- LifeProof Quality
Thickness – 7mm
Seams – Quick connect with drop-and-lock end joints
Durability – 100% Water proof, Life time residential guarantee, 5 year commercial guarantee
Overview – Overall, I would say the LifeProof flooring is a great product. Overtime I see that it holds up better then other brands that I have installed. Some of the cheaper product start to bow up and warp in about 1 year and I have not seen that with LifeProof.
It is not perfect though, I have seen some surface scratches on the LifeProof as well as the other brands I have installed. I would note that higher quality Laminater Wood flooring resists scratches much better then vinyl.
It’s not all a loss though, if you are careful and put the felt pads under all your furniture then you should be ok.

- LifeProof Value
LifeProof will cost more upfront than most other brands but you get what you pay for. If you consider LifeProof’s life time guarantee it makes sense to go with it. Other brands carry 7-10 year warranties which means that about ever 10 years your probably going to need to replace the floor.
If you plan to stay in your home 10 years or more it makes financial sense to go with LifeProof. This is especially true if you are paying someone else to install it because you would end up paying for installation more then once with other products.
With LifeProof you can pay a little more upfront and save money down the road.
- Installation
Skill Level – Intermediate
Time – 3-6 Hours Per Room
Installing Lifeproof is quite easy. If you know how to use a Circular Saw, Jig Saw and Miter Saw then you can install this product.
It is easier to install than other products because of the “drop and lock” end joints. The “Quick Connect” joints are easy to work with too. With the 7mm thickness of the planks the joints are also thicker then other products. This makes it easier to connect these joints properly with out breaking, smashing or crushing them.
I can install a room with LifeProof flooring about 25% faster then other products due to the higher durability and drop lock ends.
You can save money by going with other products, but you will end up paying more over the life time of the floor by having to install a new floor 10 years down the road.
You can buy LifeProof Vinyl Flooring at your local Home Depot, you can also order online (by clicking one of the links here) and pick up in store. They will get it ready for you, when you show up you will go to the pick-up desk and it will be waiting for you. You don’t have to waste anytime looking through the store.
